by Joseph Viktor von Scheffel (1826 - 1886)

Wohlauf, ihr zieren Frauen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wohlauf, ihr zieren Frauen,
Laßt Euch noch einmal schauen
Im schmucken Convenanz!
Brecht Euch die letzten Rosen
Und krönt mit Herbstzeitlosen
Der seid'nen Locken Kranz.
Herbei ihr Flinken, Schnellen,
Paart Euch der Tanzgesellen,
Der Umzug hebt sich an:
Tamburer und Floitirer,
Harfner und Trombonirer,
Zieh'n uns mit Schall voran.
Merkt wohl, wie ich mich spreite
Und schreitet, wie ich schreite,
In stolzer Kranichsart:
Den Reigenleitstab schwing' ich
Und wer nicht folgt, den zwing' ich
Mit einem Kuß zur Fahrt.
