by Thekla Lingen (1866 - 1931)

Stumme Bitte
Language: German (Deutsch)
Er nimmt mir meine beiden Hände
Und hält sie fest mit langem Kuss,
Bis ich mich bebend von ihm wende
Und sage, dass er gehen muss.

Da leuchtet tief in seinen Blicken
Der heisse Glanz, der mich erschreckt -
Es wagt sein Auge auszudrücken,
Was ich erschauernd längst entdeckt.

Es zwingt mich dieses stumme Flehen,
Ich geb mich hin dem starken Blick
Und fühl mich langsam untergehen
In wunderseligem Liebesglück.

Confirmed with Thekla Lingen, Am Scheidewege, Zweite und vermehrte Auflage, Schuster & Loeffler, Berlin und Leipzig, 1900, page 37.
