Bag ved de høje bjerge
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Bag ved de høje bjerge,
Der ligger den dybe søe;
I søen står der et guldslot,
i guldslottet findes et kammer,
  dér hviler Kut-Alkulub!
Hun er den fagreste pige,
som solens øjne har set;
en troldmand har bygget det guldslot,
og lejet til hende redt.

Bag ved de høje bjerge,
der gemtes Kut-Alkulub;
hun vogtes som perlen i kapsel,
som sværdet i stridsmands skede,
som liget i jordens skød!
Hun drikker af slebne skåler
den vin i langlige drag:
da føler hun hjertet vågne,
det bløder ved sine slag.
Og er jeg som en perle gemt i den dybe søe,
Kut-Alkulub! Kut-Alkulub! langt heller døden dø!
