Translation by Thor Næve Lange (1851 - 1915)

Der rinder en Bæk under Lide
Language: Danish (Dansk)  after the German (Deutsch)
Der rinder en Bæk under Lide,
Et Møllehjul løber deri;
Det løber langt mere hastigt,
Naar Elsebeth ganger forbi.

Der synge saamange Fugle,
Og hver om sin bedste Yen;
Men hvor to Elskende skilles,
Der falme Blomsterne hen.

Og nu er min Vise ude,
For Møllen er gaaet istaa.
Gud glæde Dig, Hjertenskjære,
Som jeg maatte aldrig faa.
