Du herzig's schen's Diandel,
sei freundli mit mir,
schau, wos konm den da Mensch
um sein Wohlg'fall'n dafür?
Zwa Veigerl sand d'Äugerl,
zwa Reserl sand d'Wang',
und dö möch i hald brocka,
wos laugn' i's denn long!
All' meine Gedanka,
dö laufen dir nach,
war oan Wellerl den andern
in rauschaten Bach.
Wiar in Früeling oan Vögerl
den andern nachfliagt,
und wiar d'Sunn' alli Blümerln
geg'n seina hinbiagt,
so folgt dir mein Herz
ohne Rast, ohne Rua,
und da halsstarri Kopf
gibt sein Jawort dazua.
D'rum, herzig's schen's Diandel,
sei freundli mit mir,
schau, wos konm den da Mensch
um sein Wohlg'fall'n dafür?

To be Sung at the Window
Language: English  after the German (Upper Austrian)
My cute, sweet lass,
be friendly with me;
look, who is to blame
for his likings?
Two violets are the eyes
and two roses the cheeks,
and these I'd like to pluck,
I won't deny it.
All my thoughts,
they run after thee
like one wave after another
in the murmuring brook.
Like a bird in spring
flies after the others
and like the sun bends
the flowers towards itself,
so my heart follows after thee
relentlessly, restlessly,
and my stubborn head
gives its consent.
Therefore, my cute, sweet lass,
be friendly with me;
look, who is to blame
for his likings?
