by Richard von Kralik (1852 - 1934)

O Hafis, Pindar, Walther!
Language: German (Deutsch)
O Hafis, Pindar, Walther!
Wohin ist alle Kunst,
die ihr mich habt gelehret?
Dahin wie Nebeldunst!
Dahin wie Wassertropfen
von einem heißen Stein.
Wie brauch' ich wenig Künste
zu meinen Verselein!
Das heißt in Liebe sein!
Aber hätte nicht um Gold
Pindar einst geschrieben,
[wär' auch seiner]1 Helden Müh'
ohne [Ruhm]2 geblieben,
und gesungen hätt' er stät,
also wie es mir ergeht,
einzig seiner Lieben.
