Ich warb um dich mit Sanftmuth der Tauben, 
Du wolltest nicht an mein Lieben glauben.
Wie die Adler stürmisch flog ich dir entgegen, 
Du bist geflohen von meinen Wegen. 
Das Lied der Nachtigall hab' ich gesungen, 
Doch machtlos ist es im Winde verklungen. 
Da hab' ich geliehen die List der Schlangen, 
Und siehe, ich habe dein Herz gefangen.
