by Johann Christoph Biernatzki (1795 - 1840)

Klagst du der Rose nach
Language: German (Deutsch)
Klagst du der Rose nach,
weil sie verblühte?
Blieb doch Erinn'rung wach,
dass sie dir glühte.

Glücklicher Liebe Schein
trübet sich nimmer.
War einst der Himmel dein,
bleibt er dir immer.

Was uns die Erde leiht,
mag sie verlangen;
Zähren, dem Traum geweiht,
netzen die Wangen.

Doch was die Erde raubt,
ward hier geboren.
Wer an die Liebe glaubt,
hat nichts verloren!

Confirmed with J. C. Biernatzkis Gesammelte Schriften, 1. Bd., Altona und Leipzig, 1850.
