by Otto Inkermann (1823 - 1862), as C. O. Sternau

Geh zur Ruh', mein Herz voll Sorgen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Geh zur Ruh', mein Herz voll Sorgen,
schlumm're, schlumm're, Herz voll Leid!
Ach, dich weckt kein Frühlingsmorgen
mehr zur alten Seligkeit!

In den Augen treuer Liebe
las ich all mein schönstes Glück;
schlaft in Frieden, süße Triebe,
bad' in Tränen dich, mein Blick!

Die dereinst mein Arm umfangen,
die ich treu und heiß geliebt,
ist jetzt weit von mir gegangen,
wie ein Traumgebild zerstiebt.

Lasst, o lasst in Tränen sprechen
mich den letzten Scheidegruß;
lasst mein Herz in Liebe brechen,
wenn es einmal brechen muss.
