Dis que tu t'en souviens, de cette nuit d'ivresse
ou le sein palpitant de crainte et de bonheur,
je sentais sous ma main les battements d'un coeur
qui voulait vainement me cacher sa faiblesse.

Dis que tu t'en souviens, ma craintive tendresse
sut imposer un frein à mon trop vite ardeur,
pas un mot sur ton front n'appela la rougeur,
je n'implorai de toi pas même une caresse.

Dis que tu t'en souviens, que ton amour brûlante
rachète à prix d'amour tout ce que j'ai souffert ;
si tu pouvais savoir combien il est amer
des rester calme et froid la tête délirante !
