Vergun, o God, op zijne bede,
Na uw belofte, uw knecht verlof,
Opdat hij reis van hier met vrede
Omhoog maar `t hemelsch vredehof.

Nadien ik met mijn eigen oogen
Den algemeenen Heiland zag,
Die als een zon schijnt uit den hoogen,
Daar ieder zich verblijden mag!

Een schoone zon, die met haar stralen
Het blinde heidendom verlicht,
En Jacob's huis en Isrel's palen
Verheerlijkt en nog vaster sticht.
