Cherkes
Language: Russian (Русский)
Obvernut burkoyu shirokoj,
I luk, i strely' za spinoj,
Cherkes nad propast`yu glubokoj
Stoit... I vskriknul udaloj:
``Chto gory' vzdrognuli ot gula?
Chto grozno ropshhet po reke?
Ne stalo Tramova aula!``
A shashka zamerla v ruke.

O kon`, tovarishh by'stronogij,
Nagorny'x skakunov krasa,
Kakoyu skachesh` ty' dorogoj,
Kakie vidish` nebesa?
Tvoj ny'ne korm - pshenicza l` yara?
V tvoyom zhe tesnom dennike
Razgul`e stalo ot pozhara -
A shashka zamerla v ruke...

Net sakli, gde cherkes svobodny'j
Na lozhe negi otdy'xal
I sladostno kumy's xolodny'j
Iz chashi bratskoj vy'pival.
Net ruzhej; net odezhd bogaty'x;
Net pamyati o kunake,
Darov tex druzhby' vernoj vzyaty'x -
A shashka zamerla v ruke...

``Naezdnikov ischezli sily',
Kak dy'mny'j par ot oblakov;
Net xrabry'm na zemle mogily';
Sdruzhilsya s nimi vrana klev;
No udalomu l` soglasit`sya,
Chto na E`l`bruse plena zvuk?!``
Skazal - i v bezdnu on stremitsya,
I shashka vy'pala iz ruk!
