Umsonst bemüht der Jünglich sich,
Der mich zu reizen denkt.
 
Der Himmel gab mir fröhlich Blut,
Es wallet leicht und frei.
Doch ewig hass ich Wankelmut,
Doch ewig bleib’ ich treu.
 
Dem Freunde voll Bescheidenheit
Verweig ich keinen Kuss;
Allein mein Herz ist dem geweiht,
Dem es geweiht sein muss.
