from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Polučil pis'mo ot devuški
Language: Russian (Русский)
Polučil pis'mo ot devuški sejčas,
Stal čitat' ja, polilis' slezy iz glaz.
Pišet raskrasavica moja:
«Pridi, batjuška, smertel'no ja bol'na;
A ne prijdeš', skoro žizni ja lišus',
S toboj, batjuška, zaočno rasproščus'».
Ach, devicy, rassudite grust'-pečal':
Mne krasavicu smertel'no bol'no žal'.
Ne mila mne zdes' prekrasna storona:
Ne guljaet zdes' krasavica moja,
Chorovody ne utešat moich slez,
JA pojdu s gorja poplakat' v temnyj les.
JA pojdu l' ešče po milym tem sledam,
Gde ja prežde so krasavicej guljal,
Gde ljubeznuju prijatno celoval.
Na tom meste už i travka ne rastet,
Na tom meste i cvetočki ne cvetut,
Na kustočkach melki ptaški ne pojut,
Nebesa-to pokryvalis' temnotoj,
JA skorešen'ko ko devuške pošel.
JA tichochon'ko v okoško postučal:
«Otopri dveri, krasavica, - skazal.
So posteljuški vskočila moloda,
Otkryvala širokie vorota,
Prinimala za bely ruki menja,
Celovala menja v sacharny usta:
«Zdravstvuj, batjuška, krasavčik dorogoj,
Privela nas sud'ba vstretit'sja s toboj!».
