Des voiles passent comme un vol d'oiseux blessés.
O phare, ô port! Demain nous vous aurons laissés
Fuyant derrière nous
Sous la mer qui moutonne . . .

Vois déja près du môle, au soleil froid d'automne,
Notre vaisseau halé par les haleurs lassés.
Ils tirent pas à pas, et leurs chants cadencés
Font un thrène d'adieux lointain et monotone . . . 
Car tout déjà parle d'adieux!

Des matelots
Dans les vergues, bercés sur le péril des flots,
Hissent la voile avec un cri mélancolique;
Et triste comme les adieux, de toute part
Flotte dans l'air humide et le soleil oblique
Le vent qui gonflera nos voiles, au départ.
