Guêpe

Un sourd bourdonnement de guêpe qui maraude
Par bonds légers se heurte à la vitre sonore
Diminue et s'arrête un peu, s'acharne encore,
Puis s'éloigne et, parmi l'ardent silence, rôde.

Le soleil sur les prés lumineux d’émeraude
Décline chauds rayons dont la chambre se dore ;
Toute la maison vibre ainsi qu'une mandore
De ce bruit qui sans fin la vrille et la taraude.

Et longtemps ce vol fou par toute la maison,
Comme une âme qui bat les murs de sa prison,
S'exaspère à l’écho lointain du corridor ;
Mais j'ouvre tout à coup la vitre au frais jardin,
Et la guêpe, en un bruit renflé qui meurt soudain,
S'échappe et monte au ciel, comme une bulle d'or!
