Za mnogo let nazad, iz tichoj seni raja, V venke dušistych roz, s ulybkoj molodoj, Ona sošla v naš mir, prelestnaja, nagaja I gordaja svoej nevinnoj krasotoj. Ona nesla s soboj nevedomye čuvstva, Garmoniju nebes i predannost' mečte, - I byl zakon eë - iskusstvo dlja iskusstva, I byl zavet eë - služen'e krasote. No s pervych že šagov s čela eë sorvali I rastoptali v prach roskošnye cvety, I temnym oblakom somnenij i pečali Pokrylis' devstvenno-prekrasnye čerty. I prežnich gimnov net!.. Likujuščie zvuki Dychaniem grozy bessledno uneslo, - I dyšit pesn' eë ognem duševnoj muki, I ternii jazvjat nebesnoe čelo! ...
