Cançoneta humil de mitjanit
Language: Catalan (Català)
Available translation(s): ENG
Maria, roser florit
dins el cor de la tenebra.
De la branca de David
floria una rosa vera.
Volem adorar l’Infant,
tremolós com una estrella,
i veure aquell bou pesant
i sentir un belar d’anyella.
Ja som tots aquí, Senyor,
i els morts ens fan companyia.
Ens aclara la claror
que surt de vostra establia.
I en la fredor de la nit
el dolç Infant que somica
reposarà en nostre pit
i el bressarem una mica.

A modest midnight little song
Language: English  after the Catalan (Català)
Mary, flowering rosebush
in the midst of darkness.
Out of David’s limb
a true rose was blooming.
We want to adore the Infant,
tremulous as a star,
and see that hefty ox
and hear the lamb bleat.
Now we are all here, oh Lord,
and are joined by the dead.
Illuminated by the brightness
that emanates from your stable.
And in the cold of the night
the sweet Infant that whimpers
will rest in our breast
and we will rock him a little.
