Sonntagslied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Rings waltet heil’ges Schweigen,
Nur frommer Chöre Reigen
Ertönet leis’ von fern.
Sonntag ist sanft erscheinen,
Froh sagen’s alle Mienen,
Das ist der schöne Tag des Herrn!

Es geht im weißen Kleide
Ein Engel ihm zur Seite,
Die Palm’ in seiner Hand.
Mild wie des Lenzes Prangen
Strahlt es von seinen Wangen,
Gott hat ihn selbst herabgesandt.

Oft ist mein Herz so bange,
Es flieht in heißem Drange,
Weiß’ nicht, was ihm geschah.
Doch wenn, von Ruh’ umwebet,
Sonntag hernieder schwebet,
Gott, dann ist mir dein Himmel nah!
