Sieh! wie die goldnen Sterne glüh'n,
Rund über mir und dir,
Ihr Schimmer schwand noch nicht dahin,
Bei ihnen schwurst du mir.

Ja!

At night
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Lo! how the golden stars glow
Round about above you and me,
Their shimmer has not yet vanished,
You swore by them to me.

Yes! you swore love and faithfulness to me,
As long as the stars would glow.
They still stand over you and me,
But your love has gone!

I shall not lament, shall not weep,
And shall pass on silently,
Only may their golden light reproach you
As long as the stars glow.
