by Ambroise Bétourné (1795 - 1838)

Le Vœu pendant l'orage
Language: French (Français)
Les vents sifflent, le jour expire,
sur le flot qui s'est courroucé.
On a signalé, le navire,
qui ramène mon fiancé.
Sainte Vierge Marie,
providence des malheureux,
sur la mer en furie
apaisez les vents orageux.

Des bijoux dont je suis parée,
recevez l'offrande en son nom.
Pour lui, son amante éplorée,
de bon coeur en fait l'abandon.
Sainte Vierge Marie,
providence des malheureux,
sur la mer en furie
apaisez les vents orageux.

Ah ! de grâce calmez l'orage
et tous les ans à pareil jour,
nous viendrons en pèlerinage,
vous porter nos tributs d'amour.
Les vents s'apaisent, je respire,
le calme renaît sur ce bord
et l'équipage du navire
en chantant le ramène au port.
C'est la Vierge Marie,
providence des malheureux,
qui sur l'onde enfurie
a calmé les vents orageux.
