by Christian Felix Weisse (1726 - 1804)

Der Mai
Language: German (Deutsch)
Es lächelt aufs neu
Der fröhliche Mai
In buntem festlichen Kleide.
Von Höhen und Tal
Tönt überall
Die süße Stimme der Freude.

In Wiesen und Flur
Giebt uns die Natur
Die schönsten Blumen zu pflücken.
Drum will ich zum Tanz
Mit einem Kranz
Die blonden Haare mir schmucken.

Doch sollt ich nicht den,
Der alles so schön
Erschuf, erst brünstig erheben?
Durch Jubelgesang
Preis ihn mein Dank,
Doch mehr: mein künftiges Leben!
