Still ist die Nacht;
nur leise klingen wieder 
aus duft'gem Hain die Nachtigallen Lieder,
viel tausend Sterne glüh'n in schönster Pracht
und halten treu am Himmelszelte Wacht;
mein Herz auch glühet wieder,
Still ist die Nacht.

Still war die Nacht.
Der sanfte Hauch vom Süden
erweckte kosend ringsum Blüt' an Blüte,
als mich der Weg zu dir, mein Lieb, gebracht,
da heben wir geträumet und gelacht,
und manche Hoffnung glühte.
Still war die Nacht.

Still ist die Nacht.
Der Winter naht, der weisse,
drum hab' im Herzen ich noch einmal leise
an meiner Jugend schönen Traum gedacht,
erinnerung hat mir dein Bild gebracht,
nun fliessen Tränen, heisse.
