over land og hav, å, jeg ved ei hvor.
Vidste du, hvor hjertet var fattigt da,
medens våren svam om den vide jord!

Længtet har jeg ud, og nu ved jeg hvor
nu da jeg dig føler, da jeg dig ser.
Og jeg lukker øiet taknemligt til,
og jeg græder ud, og jeg vil ei mer.

Hver en vårlys nat har jeg drømt en drøm
– som en hvid konval, når den sætter knop.
Og de stod i hjertet og vented dig,
og slet ingen lukked sit bæger op.

Hver en hvid konval som i hjertet gror,
springer ud inat, springer ud for dig.
Og med begge hænder jeg strør dem ned –
det blir blomsterhvidt over al din vei.
