by Friedrich Hermann Frey (1839 - 1911), as Martin Greif

Ritt zum Tajo
Language: German (Deutsch)
Kann Sennora mit uns reiten?
Sprach der Treiber früh,
Wo wir Abends überschreiten,
Wohnt am Tajo sie.

Auf das Maulthier schwangen Beide
Leicht die schönste Frau,
Kahl und brandig war die Haide,
Doch der Himmel blau.

Weiter ging die lange Reise
Fort den ganzen Tag,
Schweigsam war ich, bis ich leise
Abends zu ihr sprach:

"Wär' im Lande ich geboren,
Das der Tajo tränkt,
Hätt' ich Euer Herz beschworen,
Bis Ihr mir's geschenkt."
