Lockt mein Sinnen weit hinaus
Aus der Stadt nach fernen Beeten.

Beeten, die voll Veilchen sind,
Von Syringen überhangen;
Und ein blondes Nachbarkind
Kommt den Zaun entlang gegangen.

Nahe ist ein Brunnen laut,
Tief in seinen Mauern schäumend,
Und ein Flug im Bienenkraut.
Sonst ist alles stumm und träumend.

Aller Friede, der mir fehlt,
Den ich zwischen Städtemauern
Früh verlor im Kampf ums Geld,
Schlummert dort und macht mich trauern.

Violers i resedes

Damunt la taula, un petit ram
de violers i resedes
atrau els meus sentits ben a fora
de la ciutat, vers llunyans planters.

Planters que són plens de violetes,
amb lilàs penjant al damunt;
i un infant ros del veïnat
que s’hi apropa a través de la tanca.

A prop se sent una font
escumant al fons dels seus murs,
i un eixam a les consoldes.
Altrament, tot és silent i somiejant.

Tota la pau que em manca
i que, entre les muralles de la ciutat,
fa temps que per guanyar-me la vida vaig perdre,
dormita allà i em causa tristesa.
