by Eino Leino (1878 - 1926)

Kasvoi kummulla kuusi tuores
Language: Finnish (Suomi)
Kasvoi kummulla kuusi tuores,
tuoksuten, kukkapäin,
tuulten tuudussa päivät leikki,
tuskin uinahti tyynin säin.

Kerran lehvälle kuusen lensi
illalla sirkkunen,
lauloi lauluja lemmen nuoren,
kertoi kaihoja keväimen.

Hiljaa laulua kuullen laski
kuusonen kukkapään,
hiljaa, hiljaa sen oksat painui.
eikä leikkinyt lehvätkään.

Aamun tullessa laulaen sirkku
lehvältä lensikin.
Hiljaa surren kuusen oksat
jäivät vain yhä painoksiin.
