by Friedrich August Leo (1820 - 1898)

Wenn kein Windchen weht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenn kein Windchen weht,
Wenn kein Wölkchen geht,
Wenn die Sonne strahlt am Himmelsbau --
Ach, wie ist das Meer
Dann so gross und hehr
Und doch lieblich in dem tiefen Blau!

Wenn der Donner rollt,
Wenn der Sturmwind grollt
Und er jagt der Wolken wildes Heer --
Dann ist finstre Nacht
Wo erst lichte Pracht,
Und im düstern Grau erscheint das Meer!

Doch es bricht sich bald
Wohl des Sturms Gewalt
Und sein schlimmes Toben schreckt uns nicht;
Wenn die Wolken gehn,
Kannst das Blau Du sehn,
Und das liebe, holde Himmelslicht.
