Der stahl mir gestern meinen Hafer, 
Er  --  stahl ihn mir  --  er  --  stahl mir ihn,
Es war nur  --  eine Handvoll  --  aber  -- 

Am Hafer hing mein kleines Huhn,
Es hat so gern an ihm geklaubt;
So hat er mir den Hafer nun
Und auch mein kleines Huhn geraubt.

Mein ganzes Herz hing an dem Thier,
Es war so fett und schwarz, wie Kohlen:
Jetzt hat der Strolch das Hühnchen mir 
Und auch  --  mein ganzes Herz  --  gestohlen.
