Die verfallene Mühle
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
  Im Buchengrund in grüner Nacht
Liegt die verfallene Mühle,
Da [blühen]1 nur Zauberblumen sacht
In [klarer Mittagschwüle.]2

Das Wasser stürzt zum Rad hinein,
Rauscht fort in Waldeskühle,
Es rauscht tagaus und rauscht tagein --
Still aber liegt die Mühle.

Die Linde einsam vor der Thür
Schaut fragend durch die Scheiben,
[Aber]3 kein Mägdlein tritt herfür
Zum Brunnen unter den Eiben.

In stiller Nacht nur singt es lind
Dort in der Waldeskühle.
Am Morgen hat's verweht der Wind,
Und einsam liegt die Mühle.
