Wie die jungen Knospen leise schwellen,
Wie ein duftig Blüthenmeer ersprießt, 
Frühling naht in zauberhaften Wellen, 
Holder süßer Frühling, sei gegrüßt! 

Aetherduft ein fluthend Sonnenblitzen, 
Und die Erde weit den Himmel küßt, 
Alpenglühn umfaßt der Berge Spitzen, 
Frühling, holder Frühling sei gegrüßt. 

Lerche jubelt fern in blauen Höhen; 
Wonnetrunken Herz an Herz sich schließt, 
Holde Lust, viel Blumen reich erstehen, 
Sei mir Frühling tausendmal gegrüßt.

Springtime greeting

As the young buds swell quietly,
As a scented sea of blossoms burgeons,
Springtime nears in magical waves,
Lovely, sweet springtime, I greet you!

Ethereal scents[,] a surging sparkle of sunshine,
And far about the earth kisses the sun,
The Alpine glow encompasses the mountain-tops,
Springtime, lovely springtime, I greet you!

The lark rejoices far in the blue heights;
Intoxicated with bliss, heart knits itself to heart,
Lovely joy, many flowers arise richly,
Springtime, I greet you a thousand times.
