by Karl Isidor Beck (1817 - 1879)

Wiegst traurig dein Gezweig, o Baum
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wiegst traurig dein Gezweig, o Baum,
Des Vogels Lied, du hörst es kaum.
Zu deinen Füßen quillt ein Bach,
Dem Kummer folgt die Thräne nach.
Wann schuf der Weltenlenker oben
Die erste Trauerweide? sag!
Als Kain wild den Arm gehoben
Und Abel stumm im Blute lag.
Und als in meinen jungen Tagen
Das Schicksal würgte meine Lust,
Da wuchsen üppig meine Klagen,
Die Trauerweiden meiner Brust.
Es naht der Winter ernst und kalt,
Man fällt dich, wenig Sommer alt!
Ich bin die Leiche, du der Schrein,
Und eine Erde schließt uns ein.
