by Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914)

Das Löwenreh
Language: German (Deutsch)
Das Löwenreh durcheilt den Wald
und sucht den Förster Theobald.

Der Förster Theobald desgleichen
sucht es durch Pürschen zu erreichen,

und zwar mit Kugeln, deren Gift
zu Rauch verwandelt, wen es trifft.

Als sie sich endlich haben, schießt
er es, worauf es ihn genießt.

Allein die Kugel wirkt alsbald:
Zu Rauch wird Reh nebst Theobald ...

Seitdem sind beide ohne Frage
ein dankbares Objekt der Sage.
