from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Kotihinsa muut menevät
Language: Finnish (Suomi)
Kotihinsa muut menevät,
Majoillensa matkoavat,
Kurjall' ei ole kotia,
Katalalla kartanoa;
Korpi kurjalla kotina,
Salo sauna vaivaisella.
Moni on päivä päätön päivä
Usiampi einehetön:
Ilta ainaki tulevi,
Yö etehen ennättävi,
Moni tuikkavi tulonen,
Vilkuttavi valkiainen.
Ei ole turvoa tulesta,
Valkiaisesta varoa,
Turvoa tuhoistakana,
Vaivaistakana varoa.
Tuikkaen tuli palavi,
Vilkutellen valkiainen,
Eessä lapsen armottoman,
Kohalla kovaosaisen.
Noin tunsi tulen isäntä,
Virkkoi valkian pitäjä,
Tuvallinen tuumoavi,
Ja sanovi saunallinen:
"Pois turvaton tuvasta,
Armoton katoksen alta!
Tuulen vieä turvatonta,
Ahavaisen armotonta,
Varatonta vastarannan."
