by Albert Verwey (1865 - 1937)

Neen, laat mij
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
„Neen, laat mij, ik wil eenzaam zijn
En eenzaam wil ik zingen
Van levensliefde en stervenspijn
En 't lot van stervelingen."

Het lijkt mij of ik lang geleen
Die woorden heb vernomen
En dat de erinnering alleen
Ze nu weerom doet komen.

Toch geven zij zo simpel weer
Wat woelt door mijn gedachten:
Geen andre woorden kon ik meer
Dan hen mijn eigene achten.

Confirmed with Albert Verwey, Oorspronkelijk dichtwerk, Deel 2 (1914-1937). 1938 p.720
