by (Joseph) Joachim Raff (1822 - 1882), as Arnold Börner

Im Kahn
Language: German (Deutsch)
Seht, der Sonne letzte Gluten
leuchten durch den ferner Raum,
purpurn färben sie die Fluthen
und den lichten Wolkensaum.
Sonder Regen und Bewegen
ruht die Luft und sonder schall,
nur von leichten Ruderschlägen
spendet sie den Wiederhall.

Unser Schifflein gleitet leise
durch den glatten, blauen Plan,
und mit silbernem Geleise,
furchtet er die stille Bahn.
Erd' und Himmel strahlen wieder,
stillen Friedens holdes Bild.
Dämpft die Klänge eurer Lieder,
lasst sie tönen weich und mild!
