Hinunter ist der Sonnenschein, 
die finstre Nacht bricht stark herein,
leucht uns Herr Jesu du wahres Licht;
lass uns im Finstern tappen nicht.
Dir sei Dank, dass du uns den Tag
für Schaden, Fahr und mancher Plag
durch deine Engel hast behüt'
aus Gnad' und väterlicher Güt.

Womit wir han erzürnet dich
dasselb verzeih uns gnädiglich
und rechn'es unsrer Seel' nicht zu,
lass schlafen uns mit Fried und Ruh.
Durch deine Engel die wach bestell,
dass uns der böse Feind nicht fällt!
Für Schrecken, Gespenst, und Feuersnoth
behüt uns heut, du lieber Gott! 
Amen!
