by Adolf Schults (1820 - 1858)

Wenig, wenig begehr' ich im Leben
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wenig, wenig begehr' ich im Leben,
Wenig, wenig und doch so viel!
Gütige Götter! wollet mir's geben
Bis an all' meiner Tage Ziel!

Rüstige Hand zu jeglichem Werke,
Das die Stunde mich schaffen heißt,
Frischen Muth und freudige Stärke,
  Klare Stirn und klaren Geist!

Alle den Meinen, groß und kleine
Rosige Wang' und ein lachend Aug'!
Feuer am Heerde, Brot im Schreine
Und ein Tröpftlein Weins im Schlauch!

Frieden im Haus und im Herzen Frieden,
  Und ein klingendes Saitenspiel!
Wenig, wenig begehr' ich hienieden,
Wenig, wenig und doch so viel!
