Um Mitternacht, im Schlafe schon, ermuntert mich ein leiser Ton. Ich tu die Fensterladen auf und schaue nacht dem Sternenlauf. Im Waldgebirg der Mond versinkt, die Notenschrift am Himmel blinkt. War das der Klang? Klangt dort das Lied? Die Augen werden wieder müd. Aus halbem Winkel seh ich nur entschwinden eine Silberspur. Ein Engel, der vorüber lief, und wieder sang es, da ich schlief.
