De straten zijn glad en het meisjen is bang.
- ‘Zoet liefjen, ik laat u niet glippen!
Mij klinkt uw gekeuvel als vogelenzang,
mij blozen als rozen uw lippen.
 
Wat vreest ge en wat beeft ge? Mijn hart is zoo warm,
vrij sneeuwe 't, geen koû zal u deren.
Nooit leundet ge, liefje, op zoo krachtig een arm,
mijn steun op den weg zal 't u leeren.

Uw vlottende lokken bepoeiert de wind
met duizende fijne kristallen.
Ik kus van uw schouders de vlokjes, mijn kind....
Wat vreest gij? - Ik laat u niet vallen!’
