Vorbei die liebe Sommerzeit!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
  Vorbei die liebe Sommerzeit
Mit aller Pracht und Herrlichkeit!
Vorbei auch mit dem milden Glanz
Der Herbst und seinem bunten Kranz!
  Entblättert, ach! der grüne Wald,
Und jeder Sang verhallt, verhallt!

Der Sturm nur singt sein Klagelied,
Und dichter stets der Nebel zieht;

The dear summertime is past
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
  The dear summertime is past
With all its splendour and glory!
With its gentle radiance and its colourful wreath,
Autumn, too, is past!
  Defoliated, alas! the green woods,
And all singing has died away, died away!

Only the storm sings its lamenting song,
And the fogs move in ever more thickly;
And soon snow shall cover the ground:
But we remain undaunted,
For our hearts and house shall continue green,
If only love does not depart!

A word, a glance! -- In winter already
The rejoicing tones of the birds ring out!
  The flowers send their scents
Through the gentle, balmy air!
And all the meadows stand in green,
And the old snows glow wondrously!

Yes, love truly does bind springtime,
So that it blooms for us through the whole year!
And [spring] laughs a thousand times more beautifully
In the heart than it blossoms in the valley!
And more lovely than we ever dreamed,
Every day is encircled with happiness!
