Juninacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Weiche Lichteswellen träumen
In die warme Juninacht.
Leise atmen alle Blumen
Ihrer Seele süße Düfte
In die leichten lauen Winde,
Die tief in den Zweigen singen
Stille, wehmutsvolle Lieder
Müde schwere Sehnsuchtsworte,
Die in unserm Herzen klingen,
Die wir suchen, niemals finden
Aber dennoch stets verstehn,
Wenn die lauen Juninächte
Ihre Sehnsuchtsmelodien
Durch die dunklen Zweigen wehn . . .

Confirmed with Stefan Zweig, Silberne Saiten; Gedichte, Berlin und Leipzig: Schuster & Loeffler, 1901, page 29.

June night
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Soft waves of light dream
In the warm June night.
The flowers quietly breathe forth
The sweet scents of their souls
In the light, warm breezes,
And, deep within the branches, sing
Quiet songs full of melancholy[,]
Weary, heavy words of yearning
That resound in our hearts,
Which we seek, never find,
But nevertheless always understand
When the warm June nights
Waft their melodies of yearning
Through the dark branches . . .
