Leicht vorüber geht die frohe Welt,
Lacht und lobt und findet alles gut.

Keiner weiß, daß dieser frohe Kranz,
Den die Welt mir lachend drückt ins Haar,
Meines Lebens Kraft verschlang und Glanz,
Ach, und daß das Opfer unnütz war.
