min majdags brud!
nu springer ranunkelens blomster ud,
de nejer for solen i gyldenskrud,
mens majgræsset svinger sin landse.
Og blomsterblus tændes i tusental
og lyser i jorderigs dansesal,
hvor snart også du skal danse.

Min majdags brud,
min majdags brud !
jeg selv er ranunklen, som nu springer ud,
nu eier jeg lidelsens adelsskrud
på vei gjennem livets lande.
Af alle de sorgens tårer, som randt,
sprang sangenes blomster, jeg knælende bandt
omkring din velsignede pande.
