Ich war schon so klug

Da hat mich die Anmut deiner Gestalt
Mit Blitzesgeswalt 
In's innerste Herze getroffen.

Und ein Heer von jauchzenden Versen erblüht
Mir stürmisch im flammentrunknen Gemüt,
Eine ganze Liedergirandola glüht
Und funkelt und sprüht
Von der Lippe mir tausendfarbig.

Und wär es wieder nur Traum und Trug
Ich will es nicht wissen genug, genug!
Ich spüre den göttlichen Athemzug
In olympischem Flug!
O Jugend, o Torheit, o Liebe.
