by Charles Polydore de Mont (1857 - 1931)

Ik wil in de lustigste zangen
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Ik wil in de lustigste zangen,
ter eere der lieflike Mei,
alle pepels en vogelen vangen,
die fladderen door de wei.

In vroolike liederen wil ik
herdenken het jeugdig seizoen.
In kransen zoo bont als grilli
zal ik vlechten het bottende groen.

Gi, paarkens, die 's avonds gaat dwalen,
ook u en vergeet ik niet.
Twee lippekens rood als koralen
versieren steeds toovrend een lied!

Het lonken van lievende blikken,
een kus, - wondre, hemelsche roof!
zijn even zoo frisch, en verkwikken
als dauw, op 't ontkiemende loof.

En is dan mijn kransken voltrokken,
gij, meidekens, fleur van Brabant,
dan vlecht ik het in uwe lokken,
en kus u tot hulde de hand!
