Złota rybka
Language: Polish (Polski)
Available translation(s): ENG
Dołem sinej wody
złota rybka mknie,
z brzegu chłopiec młody
polne kwiaty rwie.
,,Wypłyń, rybko złota,
wypłyń z zimnych fal,
w sercu mym tęsknota,
nadzieja i żal.”
Ach, tam wieczna zima,
smętne życie tam,
wiosny nigdy nie ma,
ja tu kwiaty mam!”
,,Nęcisz mnie daremnie,
niczym kwiatek twój,
zimna dusza we mnie,
zimna krew jak zdrój.
Próżna twa tęsknota!
Przestań o mnie śnić,
bom ja rybka złota,
w zimnie muszę żyć!”
Westchnął chłopiec młody,
lecz nie płakał, nie,
dołem sinej wody
złota rybka mknie.

The goldfish
Language: English  after the Polish (Polski)
In the depths of blue waters
the goldfish darts,
And a young boy
picks wildflowers on the edge.
"Come up, goldfish,
come out of those cold waves,
For in my heart are longing,
hope, and sorrow.
"Oh, down there is eternal Winter,
sorrowful life is there,
There are never any Springs;
but here I have flowers!"
"You call for me in vain,
I don't want your flowers;
In me is a cold soul,
cold blood like a fountain.
"In vain is your longing!
Cease dreaming of me,
Because I am a goldfish --
in the cold I must live."
The young boy sighed,
but didn't cry, no;
In the depths of blue waters
the goldfish darts.
