La Giralda es un ensueño
y es así como un suspiro

tejida en oro y en plata.
Como un brazo de Sevilla
que se levanta a alcanzar
las gracias que Dios le envía.
Como un pensamiento loco
que hable de amor infinito
hecho repique sonoro.
Oro y plata, día y noche
y coral y pedreria;

cuando yo la imaginaba en sueños,
como un tesoro labrado
por manos de hadas.
Gallarda como mujer,
sin tí no sería Sevilla,
lo encantadora que es.

The spirit of glorious Seville
was made flesh
on the exotic tower,
and they called it Giralda,
[a] name that has an echo
of ringing of bells.
The Giralda is an illusion,
and thus it is like a sigh
which the earth hurls at the heavens.
filigree lace,
like a flag in the wind,
knitted in gold and silver.
Like an arm of Seville
which it raises to reach
the grace which God sends to it.
Like an insane thought
which speaks of infinite love
made [of] resounding ringing.
Gold and silver, day and night,
and coral and gemstones;
the same now as then,
when I imagined it in dreams
like a treasure carved
by fairies’ hands.
Striking as [a] woman,
without you there would be no Seville
[as] charming [as] it is.
