Det var den tappre löjtnant Zidén,
Han hade sin egen sed,
För fronten ville han gå allen:
"Framåt, mina vasagossar,
Nu gäller att hinna med!"

Främst ville han gå var fara emot,
Hans folk fick trampa hans stråt.
Gud nåde den, som var trög på fot,
Så löjtnanten ropat, gossar:
"Hurra, mina män, framåt!"
