by Ferdinande von Brackel (1835 - 1905)

Da fallen wieder die Blätter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Da fallen wieder die Blätter
Im Herbsteshauch herab:
Sie decken so manche Hoffnung,
Und decken so manches Grab.

Doch um die Todten im Grabe
Ist es mir nicht so leid,
Als um die vielen Träume,
Verwittert in dieses Zeit.

Die Todten sind ja gegangen
Zur ewig' sel'gen Ruh:
Die armen getäuschten Herzen,
Die leben noch immer zu.

Sie fühlen zu jeder Stunde
Den bitter schweren Harm:
Wie einst so reich sie waren,
Und jetzt so unendlich arm.
